Synopsis
The play takes place in San Francisco during a week in early March of 1991. Six friends come together for their annual reunion at the St. Royale Hotel. This particular year, several unexpected crises occur and the circle of friendship that has brought the friends and lovers together year after year is put to a test. Survival of the circle is dependent on the decisive action of each City Heart.
Julia had hoped that Philip would ask her to marry him this reunion year. Instead, she discovers that Philip has fallen in love with Veronica. Philip cares for Julia as a friend and must make the painful decision to leave her.
Gino, Veronica’s agent and lover, has loved Veronica for her career and is willing to let her go so he can be free to find true love. Although Veronica is afraid of losing Gino – she slowly begins to realize that Philip is the man she would love to spend the rest of her life with.
Michael, Daniel’s former lover, still deeply cares for Daniel and continues to pursue him. But Daniel resists because he must first resolve his feelings for his best friend, Philip.
The reunion weekend comes to an end, and although several hearts have been broken, the circle of friendship has survived. As the City Hearts gather once more on the Golden Gate Bridge, they reflect on the past, share the present and look forward to their next reunion in the city they love.
